Add a touch of mystery and drama to your music-making with this expressive arrangement of Camille Saint-Saëns’ Danse Macabre for cello and piano!
This edition includes two complete versions of the piece—Intermediate I (early-intermediate) and Intermediate II (late-intermediate)—so you can choose the version that best fits your level or your students’ needs.
🎻 Intermediate I Version:
Uses closed and extended first and easy (closed) fourth position only, with both forward and back extensions in first position. It’s an excellent way to strengthen essential finger patterns in a darkly atmospheric setting.
🎻 Intermediate II Version:
Adds expressive embellishments and uses closed and extended second, third, and fourth positions while keeping some of the same familiar patterns for a smooth technical progression.
🎹 Piano Accompaniment:
Rich and full without being difficult—Cassia was able to sight-read it easily (and she’s not a trained pianist!).
Whether you’re a teacher looking for a dramatic recital piece or an adult player eager for a satisfying new challenge, Danse Macabre brings expressive playing and spine-tingling excitement to every performance.
All of the Danse Macabre arrangements are in the same key and can even be performed together as multi-instrument group solos for violin, viola, or cello.
Parts: 2 pages for each part, Score: 4 pages for each part
